The Geishas of Shibarium is an NFT project created by Old Horse. The first collection comprises 6,400 portraits of geishas; 500 of these are portraits of geishas with their Shiba Inu puppies.
The Geisha project started as an art hobby. Old Horse has done business in Asia for the past 20 years and is enamored with the deep heritage and cultures. His art is influenced by his travels and observations. While working on the art project, Old Horse was immersing himself in the Shiba Inu community. He was drawn to its deeply committed and hardworking members.
Seeing the preview of the Wagmi Temple in Shib: The Metaverse when it was revealed in the spring of 2023 dovetailed his love for Asian art and Shiba Inu. The proverbial “light bulb” went on. The direction immediately went to Japanese culture and specifically focused on geisha art. For months, Old Horse worked on various techniques and styles. His goal was to create a distinctive, uncharted category of NFT on Shibarium. One of the challenges was to create a unique collection that would have measurable traits for rarity.
Each geisha NFT was created meticulously. The rarity of the NFTs is based on the color of the kimono, the age of the geisha, and if the geisha has a puppy. The age of the geishas ranges from 18 to 42, and they are portrayed in 15 different colors of kimonos. Geishas in gold kimonos with Shiba Inu puppies are the rarest.
Old Horse has several mentors in the project, including the founders of Shibacals and ShibaPunkz. They have guided him in the successful launch and building of the community. Special thanks to Turmeric Tea, Legendary, and Mac, the administrators of the project’s Telegram channel.
The project was launched on March 8, 2024, at a mint price of 8 BONE. Over 1,600 NFTs have been minted. The highest resale price has been 500 BONE. Shibarium was easy to build upon; other project owners, the DEVs, and the leadership were very helpful. Anytime he had a question, someone was there to assist. Everyone in the community works together fluidly and for the betterment of Shibarium. Most of the project owners know each other; Shibarium is a very tight community, and we communicate daily.
The vision for Geishas of Shibarium is its continuous development as a unique project. Future plans include staking and subsequent launches. Individuals who hold more than 100 geishas will be geisha house owners. The houses are part of a separate NFT collection of 100 different houses, with owners having many privileges.
There are three related projects currently in development: NFTs of Geisha Wisdom, NFTs of geishas with movement and music, and NFTs of short stories. The Geisha Wisdom series is of geisha avatars providing spoken proverbs; each clip is between 30 and 45 seconds. The next project is a collection of video NFTs of geishas with movement and music. The last one is a series of short stories called the Geisha Chronicles. Many of the developments have been shown in the geisha Telegram. Community members will have a voice in subsequent projects.
Old Horse purchased some property in the metaverse next to Wagmi Temple. He foresees having art galleries for holders of geisha NFTs.
He also sees a broadening future for NFTs on Shibarium. Project leaders are very clever and are constantly surprising the community. He believes that gaming and the metaverse will be a key focus. The metaverse will be a game-changer offering incredible opportunities for builders and the community. It will draw us together even closer.
