Shib’s New Game

Here’s a cheeky little game that’s barking up our alley: Shibridge, where your delightfully doglike Shiboshis race to amass colored bricks, build precarious planks, and hop their way to the next level — all while giving their rivals a good shove when necessary. Sounds a bit daft? It is, and that’s precisely why we love it.

Shibridge: Doggos, Bricks, and Bridge-Building — Oh My!

First things first, you’re a plucky Shiboshi (picture an adorable pup who’s clever enough to do construction work).

Your mission, should you choose to accept it (you do, because Shiba Inus can’t resist fetch quests), is to collect as many colored bricks as your furry back can carry. Then you’ll carefully assemble a bridge — like some canine version of Bob the Builder — leading from your starting platform to the finish line. Reach that promised land first, and you’re whisked away to the next stage.

Shibridge throws you into a whirlwind of brick-building madness, with each session feeling fresh and unpredictable. The game’s 15 unique levels, featuring three distinct stages each, create a seemingly endless variety of bridge-building scenarios, guaranteeing that no two playthroughs are ever quite the same.

The core charm lies not in deeply granular customization of the world itself, but in the joyful antics of the 10 playable characters and the sheer chaos of their competition. Want to stand out from the pack a little?

The Shop does offer a way to personalize your Shiboshi’s appearance with unique traits. But could we see our own NFT Shiboshis imported into a Web3 version someday… Hmm? Thoughts, readers?

But it wouldn’t be a proper shenanigan if your fellow Shiboshis just stood by politely. Instead, they want your bricks and your bridge. So they’ll tackle you in mid-gather, hoping to scatter your hard-earned rainbow lumps across the field like confetti at a dog birthday party. Or, they will lay over their own bricks onto your unfinished bridge and own it. Rude, yes, but oh-so-satisfying when you get to dish out the same treatment.

The Great Bricky Scramble

At the start of each round, your Shiboshi spawns on a platform looking as innocent as a pup in a pet store window. Then, like a supersonic toddler in a toy aisle, you dash headlong for those lovely, gleaming bricks. Collecting them is a breeze — walk into them, or do a little jumping dance if you must — and they stack neatly in your Shiboshi’s inventory (though you’ll probably be leaving a trail of drool).

Here’s the catch: The more bricks you carry, the more tempting a target you are for other Shiboshis. They can (and will) tackle you, which sends your cargo tumbling into the abyss or scattering around the platform. This is where your cunning dog instincts come into play. Maybe build your bridge in smaller bursts — pop down a few bricks at a time — so you’re less likely to lose a massive stash all at once.

Shibridge Building Is Easy (When You’re Not Being Punted)

When you’re not exchanging playful headbutts with your two-legged frenemies, you’ll want to slap those bricks onto your construction zone. Simply approach your designated building area and watch your colorful blocks slot into place. It’s rather like assembling Lego under a strict time limit, but with the added thrill of potential backside tackles.

Keep going until you can trot your happy Shiboshi self across that freshly minted walkway to the next level. Oh, and watch your step: some clever pup could wallop you mid-bridge, sending you into the void while they claim victory. Dog-eat-dog world, indeed.

Tackling Tactics and Other Sneaky Tricks

Play Dirty (But Not Too Dirty): Sure, you can sabotage your friends (or AI foes). However, overdo it, and you might waste precious seconds you could’ve spent building. Balance aggression with efficiency.

Big Bricks, Big Risk: Hauling 10 bricks is epic — right up until you’re body-slammed. Deposit them in smaller doses to keep your progress secure.

Momentum is King: Shibridge can be a speedy little affair. Zip around, nab bricks quickly, and never linger in one spot too long. If you stand still, you’re a sitting duck (or dog, as it were).

Mind the Corners: Corners or edges can be safe-ish spots to regroup and place a few bricks, but be ready to dodge the next flying tackle from behind.

Shibridge: The Long and Short of It

In a nutshell, Shibridge is a colorful collision of canine cunning and platformer pandemonium. It’s the type of game that sparks both shrieks of laughter and shouts of frustration — usually within the same 30 seconds. For those who like their chaos cute, it’s a delightful romp with a dash of sabotage on the side.

When the team behind Shibridge set out to create the game, they had a clear vision in mind: a game that wasn’t just another typical platformer. Shibridge needed to stand out — not only with its playful, chaotic gameplay but also with the underlying mission to integrate elements of the Web3 space.

According to Angel, the Shib Games lead, “There’s something ridiculously satisfying about stacking bricks and outpacing your opponents, especially when you’re a tiny, unstoppable Shib. We wanted to capture that rush of collecting and racing while keeping it lighthearted and fun. Shibs make everything better, after all!”

As Max Vergil, the game’s designer, explained, the goal was to craft something distinct from the high-octane action of Agent Shiboshi: “Shibridge provides the players with a unique mode of gameplay… the excitement and thrill is still there, but it’s less action-oriented and more planning intensive – collect bricks, tackle opponents to make them drop their bricks, and overwrite others’ bridges to reach the finish line first!”

Who needs a stoic city-building sim when you can watch adorable pups knock each other off floating platforms? After all, half the fun is watching your majestic, rainbow-toting Shiboshi tumble into the great unknown — then bounding right back up with wagging tail and renewed determination.

Shibridge: What’s Next?

Currently, you can grab it on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store — though we can expect a Web3 version to roll out soon.

And speaking of the future, Angel added: “We’re launching first on mobile, but this is just the beginning. As you will read throughout the edition, our roadmap is focused on bringing more fast and competitive experiences to players. Whether it’s new games, fresh ways to play, or expanding into web3 when the time is right, we’re always looking ahead.”

But that’s not all the Shib Games team has in store for us. When I asked about specific upcoming features, Max revealed: “In terms of future features and updates, players can expect importing Shiboshi and Sheboshi NFTs, tournaments, and new content on the horizon!”

So grab your bricks, do a little doggy jig, and start constructing! The next level’s waiting, and you’ll want to beat your buddies to it. Just don’t forget to look over your shoulder. Tackle season is always in session.

Enjoy your time in Shibridge, you splendid Shiboshis. Try not to get dizzy from the spin tackles, and remember: all’s fair in love and dogfights (but maybe don’t mention that part to the RSPCA or ASPCA).
